All you need to know about taxes as a podcaster on RedCircle

Filing your taxes can be a daunting task, especially if you’re brand new to the process. This article will guide you through the key information you need to know concerning your earnings with RedCircle.

Please keep in mind that we are not a professional tax service. We encourage our members to reach out to tax professionals for any questions you might have regarding your filings.

What’s a 1099 Form?

A “1099 form”, also denoted as “1099-K”, “1099-NEC”, and “1099-MISC”, is a federal income tax form used to report earnings outside of wages, salaries, and tips. This form is filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and, depending on requirements, state tax departments.

You may not receive a 1099 form if you do not meet the required earning threshold of $600 USD. However, some states require a filed 1099 form if the minimum threshold differs from the one followed by the IRS.

How will the form be delivered?

The form is electronically delivered to the email address associated with your Express Stripe account in mid-January. Please be sure that you have access to that email address so you can receive your 1099 form.

If you do not receive a form by January 31st, and meet the required earnings threshold, please reach out to our Support team. We’ll be happy to send you a copy of your 1099 form.

How do I update tax information?

You’ll first need to log in to your Stripe Express account through your RedCircle account. From there, click on the Tax Forms tab and then “Confirm Information”.

See Stripe’s Help article for more information.
